"I want to congratulate Carly Rae Jepsen on her spectacular run on this season's Canadian Idol. Week after week she stepped up and made her hometown of Mission, and indeed our whole province, proud.
"Her stirring vocals and incredible stage presence mean that she has real potential to succeed in her chosen career of music. While she may not have won this competition, I'm sure Canadians have not heard the last of Carly Rae. I wish her all the best."
