November 10, 2008
![]() OTTAWA - Randy Kamp, MP for Pitt Meadows-Maple Ridge--Mission, has once again been chosen to serve as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans in the re-elected Conservative government. Kamp was sworn in on Friday, November 7th in a ceremony that took place on Parliament Hill. "I've always said that I will serve the Prime Minister and our government in any capacity they ask me to," said Kamp. "That said, it's nice to be included in a group that is made up of such strong Parliamentary performers." The biggest change in the job will come from the change of Fisheries Ministers, said Kamp. "Minister Gail Shea has experience as a provincial cabinet minister in Prince Edward Island," said Kamp. "She will bring a fresh new approach to the job, and I'm looking forward to working with her to protect the vital fisheries resources across Canada and preserve them for future generations." Kamp is heading to Winnipeg this week to participate in the Conservative Party of Canada Convention. He'll head straight to Ottawa from there for the Throne Speech and opening of the 40th Parliament on November 19th. "There are a number of issues that need to be addressed right away," said Kamp. "Obviously, the focus of the fall session will be on the economy. I have confidence that Prime Minister Harper and our government will take the necessary steps to continue to protect Canadians as much as possible from the effects of this period of global economic uncertainty." |
