17 March 2009, Pitt Meadows, BC – Canadian Pacific (CP) and the Office of Randy Kamp, MP for Pitt Meadows—Maple Ridge—Mission will be working together to remove debris and litter from around the CP overpass between Edith McDermott Elementary School and Davie Jones Elementary School in Pitt Meadows.
A team of CP employees, Randy Kamp and his team of volunteers, and a handful of concerned citizens from Pitt Meadows will be at the site on Saturday morning with gloves and hardhats ready to clear the area from derelict shopping carts, old shoes and unsightly litter.
CP will be stopping trains from passing through this stretch of track for one hour, in order to facilitate the cleanup.
Litter at this site has been difficult to manage, because it lies on CP private property, and the City of Pitt Meadows Employees are not able to access these grounds. Therefore, unsightly trash has been out-of-reach from cleanup crews, until now.
