27 May 2009 – Randy Kamp, MP is pleased to announce that the federal government is investing more money to support young Canadians. Students in Pitt Meadows—Maple Ridge—Mission will be eligible for more funding through the Canada Summer Jobs initiative.

Canada’s Economic Action Plan contains increased funding for Canada Summer Jobs of $20 million over the next two years. This will help employers, particularly not-for-profit organizations, create a greater number of job opportunities for students during the current economic downturn.

“I am pleased to see that students in our communities will be able to benefit from quality summer job opportunities right here at home,” says Randy Kamp, MP for Pitt Meadows—Maple Ridge—Mission. “These projects benefit local organizations and small businesses and also provide students with great work experience.”

With the additional funding, the Government of Canada will now make a total of $107.5M available annually through Canada Summer Jobs for the next two years.
