26 January 2012 – Member of Parliament Randy Kamp met this week with small business owners and other community leaders from Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows and Mission to discuss ways to create jobs and economic growth as Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s Conservative Government plans for the next phase of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
“We have been working hard to implement Canada’s Economic Action Plan and its job-creating measures. Already, the Plan has been a big boost to the economy. Canada has created nearly 600,000 net new jobs since 2009 – the best record for all G-7 countries,” said Kamp. “However, the global economy remains challenging – especially in the United States and Europe. That’s why we need to stay squarely focused on jobs and economic growth.”
As a result, the federal government is consulting widely with Canadians across the country for ideas on how best to create jobs and grow the economy in the next budget, while keeping taxes low and returning to balanced budgets in the medium term.
“I am a strong believer that the best ideas to help the economy in our constituency and across Canada come from getting input from people about what works,” remarked Randy Kamp.
“The input that I have heard this week clearly confirms that businesses want government to stay committed to a low –tax plan for jobs and growth,” said Kamp. “I also noted that many felt that our government can help create an environment for robust job creation by aggressively tackling our country’s debt and deficit while staying flexible enough to respond to unexpected global economic events.”
“These meetings encouraged me to see how people are interested and engaged in the issues of the day,” reflected Kamp. “It makes me proud to be part of this very successful government initiative.”
As the next phase of the Economic Action Plan is developed, the Prime Minister and his Conservative Government are travelling across the country to listen and to seek the views of Canadians on the next phase of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.
