Staying Connected - April 2010

Dear Constituent,

Just last month our Conservative government introduced new legislation to bring common sense back to youth criminal justice by toughening our laws for young offenders.

Violent and repeat young offenders must be held accountable. That's why we're proposing to ensure that the protection of society becomes an important consideration for judges when it comes time to sentence these offenders.

This bill has been named Sebastien's Law in memory of Sebastien Lacasse, who was murdered in 2003 by a young offender, and to honour the dedication of his parents who have worked tirelessly as advocates for the rights of victims to make a difference in the lives of others.

I've included more information below about our new young offender legislation as well as some of our other priorities to get tough on crime.

I hope you'll never hesitate to get in touch with me at any time to share your thoughts.

Best regards,

- Randy
